A individual charged with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a voicemail message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has consistently asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the tribunal learned phone records and data recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most covered missing child cases and is still unsolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

One phone message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine was, but I feel what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's recording said: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? Then what? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I maintain a life here in Poland, I simply desire to understand," the message continued.

The tribunal was advised that via electronic messages, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, forwarded childhood photos to her phone in a bid to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with the police force who compiled the data, told the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the phone records.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann picked up a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I will continue and I will prove my point."

Court proceedings
Kate and Gerry McCann testified to the court from using a privacy screen on Wednesday

The court heard Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt before assisting her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in December 2024.

Communication data demonstrated Mrs Spragg had reached out via messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the press had characterized Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she should be taken seriously in the months before the trip to the village, the county, in that winter.

The court heard communications between the two individuals, in last November, discussing attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from utensils at a restaurant.

"We have to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the visit to their home, the defendant dispatched a communication which expressed: "We're currently sat adjacent to the McCanns' residence with our headlights off like private investigators. I desired to do this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The proceedings continues.
