Dive Into the Revamped Legendary Adventure: A Complimentary Trial for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Debuts Shortly.

Enthusiasts looking forward to the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait the full month. An free-to-play playable preview is set to release on Jan. 7, offering a generous glimpse into the game's initial chapters. Notably, all progress achieved within this demo is eligible to be carried over directly into the full game upon its eventual debut.

More Than a Simple Remake: A Complete Overhaul

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined represents a from-scratch re-envisioning of the landmark 2000 role-playing game, initially known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct step away from recent Dragon Quest remakes, like the previously released HD-2D versions, this remake adopts a unique three-dimensional aesthetic. Environments appear to look like intricate dioramas, with party members sporting a delightful chibi-esque design.

"Even with the previous port, the story was remained quite lengthy. Therefore, we came to a decision that we wanted to condense the story, [and] make this experience for modern gamers."

Major Mechanical Changes & Updates

Square Enix has added numerous enhancements to update the original gameplay loop. Among these are:

  • Streamlined Field Battles: Similar to contemporary role-playing games, low-level monsters can now be defeated instantly on the overworld map without initiating a full traditional combat screen.
  • Adjustable Battle Pace: Players can speed up battle sequences to quickly get past less challenging fights.
  • Expanded Job Mechanics: A completely new vocation was introduced for this remake. Furthermore, characters now have the capacity to master a secondary vocation, significantly expanding strategic depth.

Such alterations seek to mitigate one of the 2000 game's common criticisms: its immense length. The initial storyline could easily require more than 100 hours to finish. The new edition has been specifically reworked to enhance progression and reduce any filler.

Mark Your Date: Demo and Final Release Details
