Exploring an Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered a variety of engaging independent titles. Yet, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer includes a character that is truly a turd striving to make its way to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: press a single jump button. In 150 levels, you'll face mini-bosses and unlock a store to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.

Time your movements precisely, since one mistake requires restarting the level. Leap off floating orbs to propel yourself higher, navigate disappearing ledges, and touch switches to unlock new areas. Gather coins to purchase more difficult levels in which gameplay intensifies.

Graphically, the game features neon level designs and a killer soundtrack. Its minimalist art of shifting basic polygons may remind players of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though hard to recall previous releases where you control a dung character, interactive entertainment frequently included fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as fertilizer. Naturally, this theme shows up extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, including taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is available currently on Steam, with the full game planned to arrive on computers this November.
